McKean-Potter American Red Cross Information

You can help the Red Cross save lives. Become a health and safety instructor or authorized provider, or take a course from your local chapter.

Adult CPR: $29.95
Designed for the layperson who wishes to learn rescue breathing, obstructed airway, and CPR skills for the adult. Certification is valid for one year.

Designed for students most interested in learning rescue breathing, obstructed airway and CPR skills for infants and children only. Certification is valid for 1 year.

First Aid:  $29.95
This course will train an individual to respond quickly in an emergency for adults, children and infants. The participants will learn First Aid skills and may sign up to take the Adult CPR or Infant and Child CPR as well. Community First Aid certification is valid for 3 years.

Sports Safety Training : $30.00
Designed for the layperson who is interested in coaching amateur athletes: Little League, Cheerleading, Football, Soccer, etc.! The course includes Adult CPR/AED and Child CPR, and sports specific injuries as well as basic First Aid. The course also covers a coaches responsibilities for injury prevention, equipment safety, caring for the whole athlete.

Babysitter's Training : $38.00
Class is designed for the 11-year-old and up who wishes to learn how to be a safe babysitter. This is an eight hour course that spans two Saturdays.  Please contact the chapter house if you have a group of children who need training.  

Pet First Aid : $29.95 
Learn how to prepare for emergencies with your pet. Dog manikins are used for demonstrations.

Preventing Disease Transmission : $12.00
Learn appropriate procedures to control potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and infectious materials.  This course is usually taken with the Lifeguard course.

 

 

“Till Help Arrives”: $8.50 

Booklet and general information on reacting to emergencies. Provides individuals with basic information on how to recognize barriers to action and overcome any reluctance to act, recognize life-threatening emergencies, and identify when and how to activate the emergency medical services (EMS) system. 

 

First Aid When Help is Delayed: $12.50

Teaches what to do when medical help is delayed for 30 minutes or more

Designed to build on information and skills learned in other first aid training, to use in a delayed help environment

 

First Aid for Children Today (FACT)

First Aid course designed for grades K-3.  No certification is given.

 

 

 

Health and Safety Services Workplace Course

The McKean-Potter American Red Cross Counties Chapter offers many classes for the workplace (listed below).  Please contact the chapter to make arrangements at least two weeks ahead of time to ensure instructor availability and to allow us time to order materials.  You may also contact our chapter for course costs, equipment rental, and how to become an authorized provider.

Health and Safety Services Authorized Providers

Authorized providers are local businesses or individuals who have an employee trained to teach various workplace American Red Cross classes, such as CPR and First Aid.  Contact our office to arrange to have an instructor trained, and save your organization valuable funds by having someone in-house who can teach classes for you.  Contact us today about becoming an authorized provider!
